Title: Why Natural Sisal is the Secret to a Chic, Cat-Friendly Home
IWhen we first started designing for HÄDDEN, one material kept returning to the table: sisal.
Not because it was trendy, and not because it checked a marketing box. We kept coming back to it because cats genuinely respond to it. The texture is strong, natural, and satisfying under their paws in a way that feels instinctive. It gives them a place to stretch, scratch, and return to every day.
But what interested us most was not only how sisal performs. It was how it could live in the home.
A lot of cat products solve the functional problem while creating another one visually. They work for the cat, but they ask the owner to accept something bulky, loud, or easy to hide. That never felt right to us. We wanted to work with a material that made sense for cats, but also made sense in a more considered interior.
Sisal gave us that starting point.
Its woven texture has a quiet honesty to it. It feels tactile, grounded, and warm. When paired with a clean silhouette and thoughtful color choices, it stops feeling like a temporary pet accessory and starts feeling like something intentional — something that belongs in the room rather than being pushed to the side of it.
That balance has become central to how we think about design at HÄDDEN. We are always asking the same question: can an object support a cat’s natural behavior while still feeling calm, useful, and visually at home in modern living spaces?
For us, sisal is one of the clearest answers.
It is durable. It ages well. It holds up to daily use. And just as importantly, it brings a natural texture into the home that does not fight with the rest of the space. It works quietly. It does what it needs to do without asking for too much attention.
That is the kind of design we believe in.
Our sisal pieces are not meant to feel overly precious, but they are meant to feel considered. They are made for homes where pets are part of daily life, and where the things you live with still matter. We do not think cat essentials should feel disposable, and we do not think living with animals should mean lowering the visual standard of your home.
Sisal may be simple, but that is exactly why we like it. When used well, simple materials tend to last — both functionally and visually.
At HÄDDEN, we are less interested in making louder pet products. We are more interested in making better ones. Pieces that cats are naturally drawn to, and that people are happy to keep in sight.
That is why we keep coming back to sisal.
